Dean of Students

Chastidy Demby
With a deep sense of purpose and commitment, I am excited to serve as the Dean of Students at Cardozo Middle School for the 2025–2026 school year. Our theme, “New Season, Same Mission: Victory Through Excellence,” perfectly captures the energy and intention I bring to this role—one rooted in high expectations, meaningful relationships, and a relentless focus on student growth and development.
I bring over seven years of experience in education, beginning my journey in Jackson Public Schools, where I taught multiple grade levels across elementary and middle school. Most recently, I served as a fourth grade teacher, grade-level team leader, and school web manager at John Hopkins Elementary. In that role, I supported instructional planning, student behavior systems, and family engagement initiatives. I’ve always been passionate about building systems that support positive behavior, academic accountability, and a strong sense of community among students and staff.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in structure, consistency, and restorative practices. I believe that when students feel seen, supported, and held to high expectations, they rise to meet them. As Dean of Students, I strive to foster a school culture where students are empowered to make responsible choices, grow as individuals, and take pride in their education.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Jackson State University and my Master of Education in Leadership and Administration from Belhaven University. As a proud veteran of the United States military and a devoted mother of two, I bring discipline, resilience, and a servant-leader mindset to everything I do. I am honored to serve the students, families, and staff of Cardozo Middle School and look forward to a victorious year of excellence.
